Nyerere National Park was previously called Selous Game Reserve, now they recognized it as a National park and give it the name of Nyerere National Park, one of the largest national parks in the world.

The best time to visit it is during dry season (from july till end of november). The park is recognized as a UNESCO World heritage site.

But now the excitement can start. It is well known for its big population of giraffes, elephants, lions, hippo's, crocodiles, gazelles, and last but not least, the famous African wild dog... and many more.

Nyerere is also a very popular park for bird lovers. There are 440 different bird species living in this park of which most of them can be spotted at the lagoons.The park counts many rivers, water reserves and swamps. The famous Rufiji River crosses Nyerere to flow finally into the Indian Ocean. You can explore this river by boat and you'll surely spot a lot of animals during this trip.
